Heat Transfer & Thermal Analysis
Thermal performance often determines whether a device, process or product is viable. ALTWHIZ combines heat-transfer fundamentals with fluid mechanics, numerical modelling and engineering interpretation.
Problems we solve
Heat-transfer questions are framed around where thermal resistance or heat accumulation originates and how conduction, convection or coupled thermal-fluid behaviour changes with geometry and operating conditions. The purpose is to compare thermal concepts and support a defensible design decision.
- Understand where thermal resistance or heat accumulation originates.
- Evaluate convection, conduction and coupled thermal-fluid behaviour.
- Compare thermal concepts, geometries or operating conditions.
- Investigate transient or steady-state temperature behaviour.
- Connect thermal analysis with fluid-flow, evaporation or mass-transfer mechanisms.

Our approach
We first identify the dominant transport mechanisms and the variables that truly control performance. Analytical reasoning, reduced-order estimates and numerical modelling are used at the level appropriate to the decision.
The objective is to distinguish a visually impressive temperature plot from a defensible engineering conclusion.
Thermal analysis sits within Advanced Engineering & R&D for industrial and scientific technology products.

Technical foundation
ALTWHIZ's heat-transfer capability draws on Sanjeev Kumar's background in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and numerical modelling. His doctoral research included a 3D coupled fluid-flow and heat-transfer model implemented in COMSOL and quantitatively validated against microgravity experiments in an ESA- and CNES-supported research context.
